18K Yellow Gold Rectangle Wire, Dead-Soft

This dead-soft, 18-karat yellow gold rectangle sizing stock is named for its use in enlarging rings. Additionally, this high-karat wire is popular for shaping rings and cuff or bangle bracelets using metal-forming techniques. Dead soft stock is easy to bend, shape and hammer; it is an ideal starting point for forming, shaping and wire-wrapping. Keep in mind that hardness is changeable (by annealing or heat-hardening) and is relative among metal types (each temper will feel and handle differently from one metal to another). When finishing your pieces, also keep in mind that the harder the metal is, the brighter a finish it will take. This yellow gold sizing stock is milled in 12" straightened lengths. This stock is cut to order up to that length; due to the cutting capabilities of the shear, minimum purchase is 1/2". Ideal for high-end designs and for pieces that are not exposed to a great deal of daily wear and tear, high-karat gold materials are highly workable and deliver a signature yellow color to designs.
