Copper Square Wire, 1-Lb. Spool, 1/2-Hard

This 1/2-hard 16-gauge copper square wire features four flat sides; the flat surfaces are ideal for aligning two or more strands with one another and when soldering components to the wire. Give the wire a twist to create attractive twist wire. Simple hoops, bangles and other components take on a fresh, dynamic look when made using square wire. Metal that is 1/2-hard partially work-hardened and will hold its shape under some stress; ideal for forming structures that will support other components. Keep in mind that hardness is changeable (by annealing) and is relative among metal types (each temper will feel and handle differently from one metal to another). When finishing your pieces, also keep in mind that the harder the metal is, the brighter a finish it will take. This wire is packaged in 1-lb. spools. The color of copper is popular for a variety of mixed-metal and alternative metal designs; its affordability adds an additional facet to its popularity for both maker and clients. For some customers, the perceived spiritual/medicinal properties contribute yet another facet—especially for cuff and bangle bracelet designs. CDA #110 copper; 99.9% pure.
