Jeweler's Brass Round Wire, Dead-Soft

This dead-soft 8-gauge jeweler’s brass round wire, the bread-&-butter of jewelry making, is useful for creating components and for a wide variety of techniques. Dead soft wire is easy to bend, shape and hammer; it is an ideal starting point for forming, shaping and wire-wrapping. Keep in mind that hardness is changeable (by annealing or heat-hardening) and is relative among metal types (each temper will feel and handle differently from one metal to another). When finishing your pieces, also keep in mind that the harder the metal is, the brighter a finish it will take. This wire is sold in a 1-lb. coil. Jeweler's brass is a great choice when you want a color as close as possible to 14K yellow gold at a base-metal price point. Also known as red brass, NuGold, Merlin's gold and jeweler’s bronze, this material fires well with BRONZclay™ and with bronze sheet, wire and findings, offering you a wider range of design options. CDA #230 alloy (85% copper/15% zinc).
