Lavender Oil, 8ml Dropper Bottle
This fragrant oil is a bench favorite of many metal clay artists. Use it to mix an oil paste to join already fired metal clay pieces. Sand dried chunks of metal clay and mix even parts of lavender oil with the shavings until you achieve a creamy paste. Allow the paste to sit overnight, then join fired pieces as you would with slip and re-fire. You can also mix lavender oil with pre-made slip. Store the paste in an airtight container and add a little water and oil to reconsitute the paste as it dries over time. Lavender oil also helps prevent oxidization on BRONZclayâ„¢ pieces. Author and metal clay instructor Yvonne Padilla recommends adding lavender oil to the water bottle you use to spritz BRONZclay, saving a step as you refresh your clay during normal use.
