Place-It 2 Platinum Soldering Compound
Use this advanced-formula clay-like ceramic fixturing compound to create an instant, custom support to hold precious metals—especially platinum—during soldering. Simply press your workpiece into a patty of Place-It 2; when it warms, the compound hardens to form a stable, refractory support for the workpiece. Will not contaminate platinum and is less sticky and more stable than other fixturing materials. Can withstand temperatures as high as 3,200°F (1,760°C) and can be repeatedly heat-cycled to 2,300°F (1,260°C). Syringe applicator makes the compound easy to place, and it's easy to remove after soldering. Simply quench the heated Place-It 2 and it will crumble away from the workpiece. Store in its resealable plastic bag or in a humidor container to minimize water loss and extend its shelf life.
