Sterling Silver Oval Ring Mounting

This sterling silver ring mounting features a decorative tapered shank and a 6-prong mounting that holds one 10 x 8mm (approx.) oval cabochon or faceted gemstone. This ring requires finishing. Cabochon mountings feature a flat, sometimes open, base and raised edges with two to four prongs that hold a cameo or cabochon securely in place. Set your cabochon into the mounting, then burnish the prongs over the stone to secure it in place. To set a faceted gemstone, cut a seat in the prongs to accommodate your stone, then burnish the prongs over the stone to secure it in place.
